“Before the new film JIMMY brought James Stewart’s wartime years back to the cinema, artist Nina Mae Fowler and Tim Hannam at Bronzecraft Art Foundry had already cast in metal.”
Norfolk foundry Bronzecraft is offering interviews, photos and filming of Jimmy, Nina Mae Fowler’s aluminium sculpture of James Stewart. It is cast from B-24 aircraft aluminium kept in storage for years. The release is timed to the US opening of the film JIMMY on 6 November 2026. Viewing is by arrangement, and owner Tim Hannam is available for interview.

ATTLEBOROUGH, NORFOLK – 3 November, 2026 – Bronzecraft’s aluminium casting of Nina Mae Fowler’s Jimmy connects the actor’s Norfolk wartime service with B-24 aircraft aluminium that had been in storage for years.

As the film JIMMY opens in US cinemas on 6 November, a Norfolk foundry is offering filming, photography and interviews about an earlier artistic portrait of its subject. Jimmy is Nina Mae Fowler’s aluminium sculpture of James “Jimmy” Stewart, cast by Bronzecraft. A cast of the sculpture can be viewed at the foundry by arrangement.

The approximately 60 cm sculpture began with a wartime photograph of Stewart. Bronzecraft owner Tim Hannam showed the image to Fowler and proposed the project. Fowler created the work and commissioned Bronzecraft to cast it.

The casting is made from aircraft aluminium that, according to Hannam, was in storage for all those years.

Tim Hannam, owner of Bronzecraft, said: “The aircraft aluminium was available right here all along. It had been in storage for years, and we did not have to go looking for it. The airfield’s owner at the time donated B-24 parts.”

He added: “This building survives from the Second World War, and you can feel the history in it. A fine-art foundry was a perfect reuse of the space. Knowing that Jimmy Stewart was Operations Officer at Old Buckenham gives the sculpture extra meaning.”

Stewart arrived in England in the autumn of 1943 as commanding officer of the 703rd Bomb Squadron, which was equipped with B-24s. On 31 March 1944 he was appointed Operations Officer of the 453rd Bomb Group, based at Old Buckenham. He ended the war with 20 combat missions.

Fowler has described the project’s origin: “Tim Hannam who runs the foundry showed me the image, telling me the history of the local airfield and asked if I would consider making a sculpture based on the photograph.”

JIMMY, starring KJ Apa as Stewart, begins its US theatrical release on 6 November 2026. The sculpture predates the film and has no production connection to it.

Hannam says he would like to produce a full-size version of Jimmy.

Jimmy can be viewed by arrangement with Bronzecraft, because the foundry is a working one. Filming and photography are available, and Hannam is available for interview. Viewing and filming by arrangement only.
