The limited Hispanic Heritage Month engagement features a six-member cast in Cris Eli Blak’s drama about machismo, generational trauma, and the possibility of healing.

Dominant Animals, written by acclaimed playwright Cris Eli Blak, returns to Teatro LATEA for three performances during Hispanic Heritage Month, October 2–4. The production pairs a story of family conflict and the possibility of healing with live comedy before each performance—and a DJ set on opening night.

Set inside a Puerto Rican family’s home in Queens, Dominant Animals confronts machismo, incarceration, anger, generational trauma, and years of emotional silence. As estranged family members face the past, the play asks whether accountability, forgiveness, and healing are still possible.

The cast features Eddie Martinez as Felix Burgos, Robert Mercado as Angel Burgos, Nancy Katherynn Gómez as Alix Burgos, Prentice Myles as Carlo Schaeffer, Lorena Jorge as Paloma Lopez, and Chris Terrell as Locke Curtis. The production is directed by award-winning Puerto Rican filmmaker and director Adrienne Acevedo Lovette.
